Wind Power Race: Sørlige Nordsjø II Auction Set to Begin
Five applicants have been approved for the auction round for Sørlige Nordsjø II, located just outside Kristiansand. The auction opens on March 18th at 9 AM GMT +1/Norwegian time.
Five applicants have been approved for the auction round for Sørlige Nordsjø II, located just outside Kristiansand. The auction opens on March 18th at 9 AM GMT +1/Norwegian time.
Minister of Energy Terje Aasland announced the qualified participants, including Aker Offshore Wind, BP, Statkraft, Equinor, RWE, Norseman Wind (Energie Baden-Württemberg AG), Shell, Lyse, Eviny, and Ventyr (Parkwind and Ingka).
The auction will use an English format with open bidding. The winner will secure state support based on the lowest bid in øre/kWh. The ministry will disclose the winning bidder and bid size after the auction.
The government aims to develop 30,000 MW of offshore wind production by 2040 and announced the first project areas on March 29th, 2023.
