Game On for Utsira Nord: Government Kicks Off Floating Wind Competition

“This is a major step in our offshore wind strategy and creates new opportunities for both power production and industrial growth,” says Minister of Energy Terje Aasland.
The allocation process will happen in two stages: initial selection based on criteria like cost, execution, and sustainability, followed by an auction where one winner will receive state support. The maximum support cap is NOK 35 billion.
The model is tailored for floating wind and aims to drive down costs and support technology development. Further tenders and new area openings are expected in the years ahead.
